Off to the Races Travel | Review

Typically, I plan all of my trips myself. Very no muss, no fuss with a basic hotel, GA or grandstand tickets and a plan to stay at the track the entire time. Last year for the first time, I tried something a little different.

Off to the Races is a female focused travel agency that plans boutique luxury race weekend experiences. Structured as group travel it can be great for those who otherwise might travel alone or who'd like to meet other fans.

Included are accomodations at an upscale hotel, tickets to either a premium grandstand or hospitality, and activities throughout the weekend (yoga, dinning, tours of local attractions). Each weekend is a little different as adjustments are made to get the best experience out of each city/track and for the group in question.

Not having to think too much about planning or scheduling was lovely and made this trip truly feel like a vacation. Especially since there was a balance between trackside activities and others around the city. Too often when I go to a race weekend I end up only having trackside experiences, so this was a lovely change.

Outside of the race weekend we got to take a private tour of the Rijksmuseum and took a lovely canal tour. Both were very enjoyable but the best experience was eating at Restaurant De Kas. Being placed inside of a greenhouse made for a unique environment in which to eat phenomenal food. To this day I am still thinking about the ice cream we had for dessert.

The hotel was well placed right across from the train station that we walked to each morning to get to the track. Breakfast was also included and cozy robes which made coming back to the room each night feel even more relaxing. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the staff very kind and helpful.

Unsuprisingly, hopitality trackside was very enjoyable. The weather throughout the weekend included a lot of rain and wind. Getting to take shelter and have warm drinks made our time much more enjoyable. Having food readily available helped to manage energy levels and allowed for more time to explore without the need to wait in lines.

What truly made this booking worth it was Alexandra Zigrang, the founder of Off to the Races who plans each and every trip meticulously. She has personally tested every hotel, tour, and activity. She reached out to myself and a number of other well travelled female fans to ask about our experiences at various tracks. Her communication before, during, and after the trip was frequent and incredibly helpful. Our itinerary was available in our emails, our group chat, and printed out and placed in our rooms upon arival. The welcome bags included pouches with our names on them, small cosmetics like a face mask, make up remover wipes and hand sanitizer, snacks and drinks, and hats. Alexandra is brilliant at hosting people, as well as being incredibly kind.

Without a doubt, Off to the Races is a fantastic travel agency. If you're looking for a luxury race weekend experience they're certainly worth checking out.
